DL - Driving order

When driving in traffic, you should always be aware of the correct driving order. If there are no road signs, road markings or traffic lights, follow the traffic rules. Traffic signs can be used to change traffic rules, and traffic lights cancel traffic signs. The Road Traffic Act also applies when driving in parking lots and parking garages. For example, the intersections inside the parking lot are equal, if the traffic signs do not say otherwise.

Order of traffic control:
1) Traffic rules (equal, right side first)
2) Road markings
3) Traffic signs (give way sign)
4) Traffic lights
5) Traffic controller

Equal, you must give way the one approaching from the right

In an equal lane, you must give way to traffic approaching from the right, regardless of which direction it is going. Equal is a common type of intersection, especially in populated areas and city centers, when the speed limit is 30 - 40 km/h. If the limit is 50 km/h, a traffic sign must be used to warn of the equal crossing.

Those turning left give way for oncoming traffic

In most traffic situations, a person turning left must avoid oncoming traffic. This applies not only to equal crossings, but also to unequal crossings and also to traffic lights.

Un-equal - Yield sign

At an un-equal intersection, traffic signs indicate the main road. When you come to an intersection with the obligation to give way from behind the triangle, you must give way to all users of the main road. Not only traffic coming from the right but also traffic coming from the left. The person driving the main street must make sure that the person coming from his right has a give way sign.

Mandatory stop STOP

You must always stop at a Stop sign, even if there is no traffic to yield. Stopping must be done at the stop line, or if there is none, at a place with sufficient visibility, however before the crossing road. If you first stop behind another car when he starts moving, you will have to stop again at the correct stopping place. In the situation in the picture, you have to stop just before the crosswalk. After stopping, give way light traffic and then you can drive closer to the carriageway of the intersecting road. If necessary, you can stop again to yield the traffic on main road.

Traffic lights

You can drive into the intersection when the light is green. If you turn left when the circular light is green, you may have to avoid oncoming traffic. After turning, you also have to dodge light traffic at the crosswalk.

If you have a green arrow light, there are no evasive ones. If the traffic lights are off, follow the traffic signs and traffic rules. When the traffic lights are turned off, you should approach the intersection carefully and slowly.

Roundabout

Today, intersections are often built in the shape of a circle, the roundabout. This type of intersection facilitates traffic flow without impairing traffic safety. Larger circles can have several lanes.

When joining the roundabout, remember to give way those already driving in the roundabout. Also give way cyclists and pedestrians when entering and exiting the roundabout. When leaving the roundabout, indicate your intentions by flashing right. Do not short cut over the roundabout, but keep your driving line as close to the right side as possible. If there are several lanes, drive slowly enough so that you can keep your vehicle in the same lane at all times.

Cycles for cyclists and motorists

A motorist must always give way to a pedestrian crossing a crosswalk, but a cyclist is not a pedestrian when walking over the street with a bicycle. If a cyclist stops and rides the bicycle across the road, he is considered a pedestrian. A person who moves on an electric scooter is also generally considered a cyclist.

A motorist must give way to a cyclist riding a bicycle at the crosswalk after the turn. Obligation to give way Those approaching from behind the sign must also give way to cyclists.

When entering a roundabout and also when exiting a roundabout you must give way to all light traffic including cyclists.
